Rita was born in upstate New York and has always loved the mountains and rural settings which she often features in her work. Having spent her childhood summers in the Adirondacks and her early adulthood in the Catskills, Rutherford County ( in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina) was the perfect place for her and her husband to start their lives together.

After collecting art for many years, Rita has finally found the time to test her own skills. She has studied for the last few years under the tutelage of Annette Frances, Gerry Luckenbach and Linda McGregor, all local artists and members of the Rutherford County Visual Arts Guild.
Rita is influenced by her long term admiration of quilting and the way large blocks of color can create patterns and pictures with fabric. She works with acrylics, mixed media and textiles.
