The 2010 Celebration of the Arts Show and Sale will be held at the Foundation Performing Arts Center at Isothermal Community College in Spindale. The show will run from September 15 to September 19. The works of local artist will be displayed and will be open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday. Also included will be children's art from classes that have been held at the Visual Arts Center. In addition to the art show, additional pieces of arts will be available for purchase. There will also will a silent auction featuring many one of a kind pieces such as three collages done by the students in our Summer Art Camp program this year. The silent auction will begin on Wednesday and be be closed on Friday, September 17 in a special Artists Gala Reception beginning at 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The winning artists will be revealed at this time.
Local artists are encouraged to participate. Information and applications may be downloaded. Awards will be given in both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art. The juror this year will be Connie Bostic, a native of Rutherford County. She holds a B.A. in art from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and a Master degree in studio art from Western Carolina University. Bostic has exhibited nationally
and internationally. Her work is owned by the Asheville Art Museum and the State of North Carolina. From 1990 to
2000, she owned and operated the ‘zone one’ contemporary gallery in Asheville. For many years Bostic has served on the board of Directors of the Black Mountain College Museum and Arts Center |
