The 2nd Annual Celebration of the Arts. It will be held at the Foundation again with the Artists Gala on Friday, September 26. It promises to be better than the last.

Entries accepted: Friday September 26, 9am-2pm. Failure to meet this deadline will invalidate artist's eligibility for judging.

Reception/Silent Auction: September 26, 2008, 6-8pm

Viewing: September 27 to October 1, 9-5 (Expect Sunday, 12-5)

Pick up work: Wed, October 1, 5-9pm. No Exceptions.

Juror - Hal Bryant, Shelby, NC -

Hal Bryant’s works are found in collections throughout the Carolinas.  He has participated in many juried and museum exhibits, and has won many awards for his watercolor, pastel and acrylic works during his artistic career.  Since 1972, he has placed over three hundred paintings in private, business, and corporate collections.

Bryant’s subject matter ranges from realistically rendering the interiors and exteriors of structures in acrylic and watercolor, to interpreting the beauty of the natural landscape impressionistically in pastel.  In recent years he has been working in digital photography, and has had several exhibits of those prints.

From 1992-1994, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of moving and restoring a historic log cabin which is now in the woods below his home.  It is used as a summer studio.

Bryant is a native of South Carolina, and has a B.A. from Gardner-Webb and a M.A. in Art Studio from the University of South Carolina.  He was a past president of the Shelby Art League, and was on the faculty of Cleveland Community College from 1975 until 2007, when he retired.  During his career there he taught drawing, painting, digital photography, and art appreciation in the college transfer division.  He is now teaching there in an adjunct position.
