In July 1999, interested people gathered to form the Rutherford County Visual Artists Guild.  The guild has grown and has become a nonprofit organization in which all types of visual art such as paintings, ceramics, wood carving, and sculpture are now represented.  Community outreach includes help to local groups who want to improve the art education and awareness of the visual arts in the community.

Membership is not limited to artists only.  If you are interested in and appreciate the visual arts, YOU are also welcome to join us.  Help is needed with hanging and arranging art in shows, community education, communication and distribution of information about the guild.

Pat Grillo

Gail Williams is a native of western New York State. She has lived in San Francisco, New York and Atlanta, finally settling in the mountains of beautiful Western North Carolina near Asheville.

Gail's interest in art developed early in school and was fueled by a circle of very creative friends and teachers. Over the years she has continued to develop her skills in workshops by nationally known artists and by taking classes when ever time from her job would allow.

In 2001 Gail left her career of 23 years with British Airways, and was finally able to pursue her art full time.

Gail is a contemporary artist working in acrylics, mixed media and encaustic. She is influenced by her life experiences and the natural environment she lives in. Though her media and themes are varied, all reflect her love for deep, saturated and contrasted colors.

Gail has exhibited throughout the Southeast and in Arizona. She paints in her home studio on Lake Lure and at the "Conn-Artist Studios" in Historic Hendersonville NC, where she is a Resident Artist.

Gail lives with her Husband John, 2 loving Retrievers and her 20 year old parrot, Cairo.
